ASS Brisbane Workshop and Concert
July 6-7, 2024
With Lindsay Dugan and Carl Rathus (shakuhachi),
and Takako Nishibori (koto)
The ASS presents a Brisbane shakuhachi workshop with Carl Rathus and Lindsay Dugan, accompanied by Brisbane-based koto performer Takako Nishibori.
This two-day workshop will include several sankyoku (traditional ensemble music, assisted by Takako), and Yokoyama-style honkyoku. Skills sessions will also be held on both days.
There will also be a public concert held on Saturday for all workshop participants.
All necessary workshop materials (including audio recordings) will be provided after registering.
It's been a while since we've had an in-person ASS shakuhachi workshop. These get togethers are good for learning or revisiting repertoire, meeting new folks or old friends we haven't seen for a while, and also a great opportunity to publicly perform shakuhachi in a supportive environment! Plus we have Takako with us for the Saturday, which is an absolute treat.

Cost
Both days - $180/$200 (ASS members/non-members), or
Single day - $100/$120 (ASS members/non-members)
What you'll need:
- Music stand (none available at venue)
- Printed scores
- Lunch (there aren't really any take outs close to the venue)
- And, of course, yourself and your 1.8 shakuhachi
